Amplifest 2014 will only take place at Hard Club

O Amplifest 2014 acontecerá apenas no Hard Club.

Vocês conhecem-nos bem, somos a favor da transparência e por isso é importante que expliquemos o quê que aconteceu para esta alteração a três semanas do evento.

Como sabem, nunca escondemos que o Hard Club é o coração do Amplifest. Mas, também sabem que temos uma necessidade constante de fazer mais e melhor a cada edição que passa, não só para vocês mas também para nos desafiarmos a nós próprios. Em 2012, passamos então pela Sé naquela tarde maravilhosa e única com o Jozef van Wissem e pelo Passos Manuel com os Barn Owl e, no ano passado, com o crescimento natural do evento, passamos também pelo Mercedes, na Ribeira. A adição de salas extras correu sempre pelo melhor e vocês que estiveram nas edições anteriores assim o reconhecem.

Porquê o Gare então e não o Mercedes já que correu tão bem? O Mercedes fechou. É talvez a notícia mais triste do ano. Depois de 30 anos a remar contra a maré, o nosso amigo Zéquinha achou que estava na altura de enveredar por outro caminho. A sala estará sempre no nosso coração: crescemos como melómanos naquele espaço maravilhoso, vimos grandes concertos e fizemos amigos por lá, até o nosso primeiro concerto de sempre teve lugar nesta sala mítica. É triste, muito.

Quando recebemos a notícia, há vários meses atrás, tivemos de procurar uma solução. Esta solução, como devem imaginar, teria que ter todas as condições essenciais, isto é, estar preparada para receber espectáculos ao vivo. O Gare não está, é uma sala desenhada sobretudo para música electrónica, mas em todas as reuniões com o responsável do espaço foi-nos garantido e prometido que as obras necessárias (pormenores técnicos basicamente) iriam ter lugar.

O tempo foi passando e tudo continuava na mesma. No passado Sábado, após verificarmos que nada tinha mudado, decidimos cancelar o Gare do Amplifest mas notem que nenhum concerto foi cancelado e nenhum set foi encurtado..

A Amplificasom não pactua com faltas de profissionalismo, a Amplificasom não admite faltas de respeito e consideração. A Amplificasom nunca colocaria em causa a qualidade de qualquer evento. Mais, o vosso bem estar e o das bandas.

O “comunicado” já vai longo, mas precisávamos que isto saísse de cá de dentro. Resumindo: não existem problemas, apenas soluções. Passamos o Domingo agarrados a toda a logística e reestruturamos o evento. Insistimos: nenhum concerto foi cancelado e o alinhamento por cada dia continua semelhante.

Antes de terminar, não pretendíamos fazer um grande alarido com esta notícia, ou seja, vai ser o melhor Amplifest de sempre (sim, é uma promessa) por isso tomem apenas nota que vamos vivê-lo apenas no Hard Club e, não esqueçamos, a expo do David na Louie Louie.

Amplifest 2014 will only take place at Hard Club.

We’re all for transparency, so it’s important for us to clarify the reasons that led to this decision only three weeks away from the event.

We never hid the fact that Hard Club is the very heart of Amplifest. But we also feel the constant need to do better and better with each edition, not only for you, the audience, but also to keep challenging ourselves. In the 2012 edition we spent that wonderful afternoon at the Sé Cathedral Church with Josef van Wissem and had an amazing show with Barn Owl Passos Manuel; last year, to keep up with the festival’s growth, we added our beloved Mercedes bar to the event, with shows throughout the whole weekend. The addition of extra venues has always worked for the best and everything always ran smoothly, as you can attest if you’ve been here in the past editions.

Why then the change to Gare, since the Mercedes experience went so well? Well, Mercedes has shut down. That was probably one of the worst news we had all year, but Mercedes will always be in our hearts – there we grew up as music lovers, we saw amazing shows and we made many friends. Our first show as promoters took place in Mercedes. It is really saddening for us.

When we got these news, a few months back, we knew we had to search for a solution. The solution had, as you can imagine, to reunite all the necessary conditions to hold live shows. Gare, as a venue, is only prepared for DJs/electronic music – but, in the several meetings we had with the management, we were promised that the required technical adjustments would take place. But time passed and these kept being delayed. Last Saturday, after realizing that nothing had been done, we decided to cancel Gare as a part of Amplifest. But note: no shows will be cancelled and no set will be cut short.

We, Amplificasom, refuse to deal with lack of professionalism and commitment; but above that, we can’t undermine the quality of Amplifest, as well as the audience and the bands’ well being.

This post may be too long already, but we make a point to clarify everything. To sum it up: there are no problems, only solutions. We spent all Sunday reorganizing every logistic aspect of the festival and we redesigned the whole event to fit in Hard Club. Again: no shows were cancelled and the lineup per day will be very similar to the previous one.

Before we finish: we don’t want to make too much noise around this. It will be the best Amplifest ever. It’s a promise. Just note it will only take place at Hard Club and, don’t forget, also at Louie Louie with David D’Andrea’s exhibition.
