The rise of Ashenspire since the release of their sophomore album, “Hostile Architecture”, in 2022, has been a meteoric one, and on top of it achieved without any kind of shortcut or artificial hype. That record is simply undeniable, a violent ode of fiery protest, aimed squarely at class inequality, oppressive urbanism and the way our current social suffering is caused by a premeditated and calculated structure. Theirs is an unflinching approach – both conceptually and musically, since the way the Scottish band throws shards of black metal, industrial and jazzy dissonance onto a bonfire of wild experimentation is precisely what opens the space for the message to be delivered so bluntly. It will be a premiere on Portuguese soil which will leave a lasting impression.
