DIVIDE AND DISSOLVE

It’s been tricky to come up with comparisons to better explain Divide and Dissolve’s music, be it other artists or even genres. The Australian duo itself, led by guitarist/saxophonist Takiaya Reed, tends to avoid talking too much about musical influences or idols, seeming always more interested in discussing their no less relevant philosophical, literary or social preferences. It is understandable, if only because no other musical entity would really do justice to the colossal sonic swamp the pair create when they play – take their 2023 album “Systemic” as an example, an insurmountably heavy, predominantly instrumental banger that becomes even more amplified when its songs are performed live. Call them what you will, then, but the result of the Amplifest show will be the same: crushing.
