Do black metal à arte de se ser um cantautor há um passo a dar. O que muitos não percebem é o quão pequeno pode ser — basta ter em conta todos os nomes da música extrema que trabalham sozinhos, desde os americanos Leviathan e Xasthur ao coração dos franceses Blut Aus Nord, Vindsval, todos eles autores de canções que não se dão tanto a cantar quanto ao growling. King Dude já o fez antes, tendo envergado a bandeira do género durante muito tempo, até se dedicar à guitarra, ao folk norte-americano e a um country que deve tanto ao negrume de Michael Gira quanto à solenidade de David Eugene Edwards. Ou seja um caso que lhe chamem de novo Johnny Cash e que as suas colaborações com Chelsea Wolfe proliferaram nos últimos anos. É, de resto, neste cruzamento que a voz fantasmagórica de King Dude se sobrepõe ora à guitarra, numa relação com o profano, ora ao ruído, na exaltação ao sagrado, em Burning Daylight. Não haverá pastor mais indicado para celebrar o sétimo aniversário da Amplificasom, e será ele a conduzir a cerimónia. Já se sabe: vai ser bela como poucas.

From black metal to songwriting there’s a step to take. What one might no tone is the size of it. If we take names such as Leviathan, Xasthur and so on, we’ll notice that all of them are songwriters who don’t care so much about singing, but they do work alone. King Dude did it all before and he still is into black metal, releasing spilt extedend plays with the likes of Urfaust, although now he haunts us with a true of heart folk, somewhere between the darkness of Michael Gira and the sacred approach of David Eugene Edwards. So he quite the singer-songwriter, not often enough refered to as new Johnny Cash, and has been a frequent collaborator of Chelsea Wolfe. The outcome, Burning Daylight, hits you, as a beautiful, simple American folk set of songs, with all the intensity of the darkest influences in the background, either in silence or sounding as noisy as possible. We’re pretty sure there is no one with a better feeling for throwing a party without using party hats. And that is why King Dude will be at Amplificasom’s 7th birthday party.
