Inside Amplifest: Black Bombaim

Amplifest is a about bands regarding music as one thing, and one thing only: art, human communication in its most pure state. Portuguese jam rockers Black Bombaim are the most fluent fellows speaking with their power trio instruments. With just one guitar, one bass and one drum kit, these guys are able to describe the most incredible of space trips and epic travels through a universe of drug induced wonders.

This year they released their opus Titans, with tons of special guests such as Isaiah Mitchell (Earthless), Steve Mackay (Stooges), Noel Harmonson (Comets on Fire), Adolfo Luxúria Canivbal (Mão Morta), and our usual guest and incredible guitarist Jorge Coelho, and got added to Roaburn 2013 line-up. So, yeah, we have some great treasures here in Portugal and we’re so eager to share them with you.

Here’s our first bit of Black Bombaim:

What do you expect of the Amplifest audience?

We expect a bunch of people gathered to witness one of the best alternative festivals in Europe! Fun times ahead! We’re stoked!

We like surprises, but what can we expect from your show?

Well, you can expect what we do everytime, deliver great riffs and face melting psych jams. It’s all we can do!

What band do you really want to see at Amplifest?

All of them.

What records have you been listening lately?

Goat – “World Music”; Camera – “Radiate!”

Enough about music, Amplifest is also about other arts. What have books have you been reading and what movies have you been watching lately that you want to recommend?

“Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung” by Lester Bangs. Haven’t seen a great movie lately…

It’s like they answered the questionnaire after snorting Redbull. They sure are full of energy – and this is just a sample of what they are actually capable of live. Just take a look above.
